A
serene meditation on opportunities missed and options not taken, Ogata’s second
feature deals with the long-suppressed love between two flawed individuals. 50-ish
Minako delivers milk every morning to the people of picturesque Nagasaki, then
goes to her regular job as a supermarket clerk. She and Kaita, a public servant,
were childhood lovers but drifted apart after a traumatic incident. When Kaita’s
dying wife Yoko asks them to renew their relationship, both Kaita and Minako are
confused and angry, but gradually rediscover each other.
