Four
years after Kyoko abandoned her family and left for Chiang Mai, Thailand, her
daughter Sayo finally comes to visit her at the guest house where she now works.
There, Sayo comes into contact with kind-hearted employee Ichio, lonely young
Thai boy Bie and the guest house's owner Kikuko, whose days left on earth are
numbered. Sayo struggles to come to terms with the sight of her mother enjoying
her existence among these complete strangers. As each character deals with personal
hardships they also show sympathy for those around them. Sayo's heart gradually
opens, until she's able to express her true feelings toward her mother for the
first time.

In 1998, she made her debut as both script wrier and director with TV drama. Since
then, she wrote scripts for many popular dramas including films such as Detroit
Metal City and KAIJI. POOL is the first film which she was in charge of both director
