Cinema 1 - SEVERANCE
NC16 - violence (95 minutes)
THE OFFICE meets DELIVERANCE is the pitch - a sure sign that SEVERANCE is not your average fright film, but an off-the-wall mash-up of humour and horror. MIDNIGHT MADNESS alumnus Christopher Smith, director of 2004's CREEP, bounces back with an even bloodier chunk of celluloid, winking at the audience with his tongue poking through his cheek.
A team-building weekend in the mountains of Eastern Europe goes horribly wrong for the sales division of the multi-national weapons company Palisade Defense when they become the victims of a group of crazed killers who will stop at nothing to see them dead.
Cinema 2 - SCOOP
PG (96 minutes)
Scoop is the new contemporary comedy from writer/director Woody Allen, and is his second consecutive film to be set and shot in London (following MATCH POINT). A young journalist student, Sondra Pransky (Scarlett Johansson), travels from America to England to interview a famous Actor. After the not-so-complete interview she goes to a magic show. When selected to take part in one of the acts Sondra is contacted by a recently deceased famous journalist who is determined to give her his last scoop. He tells her that the son of Lord Lyman, Peter Lyman (Hugh Jackman), is the tarot card killer. Dragging along Sid Waterman (Woody Allen), a kooky magician, Sondra attempts to discover who Peter Lyman really is and if he is a killer. What she doesn't realize is that while she is trying to protect the country of England her heart might be what is really in jeopardy.
