What We are pleased to present two films adapted from Murakami Haruki's short stories, and will be conducting a post-screening discussion on the films versus their original forms. Adapted from “On seeing the 100% perfect girl one beautiful April morning”, the story evolves around a man passing by a girl whom he thinks is perfect for him.  He begins to contemplates what to do next…


TONY TAKITANI
2004, 75 minutes, Colour, Japanese with English subtitles

Adapted from the short story of the same title.  Tony Takitani had a lonely childhood and hence was used be being alone.  After falling in love with and marrying Eiko, for the first time, he understands and fears loneliness.  At the same time, her obsession with designer clothes begins to worry him…
