Cinema 1 - THE LAKE HOUSE - PG (Consumer advice: Nil)
(100 minutes)

Reunited on screen for the first time since SPEED, Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves star in this remake of IL MARE. Kate Forrester, a young doctor in 2006, communicates with Alex Wiley, an architect in 2004, through the (physical) mailbox at a lake house they occupy at their respective points in time. Unlikely as such a 'long-distance' romance may be, they fall in love with each other, but face many challenges in keeping their relationship - and, ultimately, Alex - alive across time and space. During the first test screenings in Singapore, there wasn't a dry eye in the house. One might fault the film for loopholes in logic, but the film just works. Feedback from different cross-sections of the general cinema-going public indicates that enjoyment of THE LAKE HOUSE doesn't depend on whether or not you have seen IL MARE.

Cinema 2 - DRAGON TIGER GATE - PG (Consumer advice: Fighting scenes)
(98 minutes)

Drawing upon Tony Wong's popular Hong Kong manga of the same name, director Wilson Yip, the man behind the hard-hitting SPL, delivers a movie reminiscent in many ways of the martial arts flicks many people grew up on in the 1970s. Three upright young men band together after enduring much turmoil to rid the land of a prime evildoer gang. Donnie Yen's action moves are lauded by MovieXclusive.com as "charismatic"; "the ultimately fast, harrowing action sequences...best captured the comic spirit". Nicholas Tse and Shawn Yue co-star. The popularity of the source material of DRAGON TIGER GATE is considered by many fans to be comparable to that of Marvel's.
