It’s a Wonderful Life 25 Dec 09, 7.30pm
1946 | USA | 100 mins | B&W | Drama | English | PG

Directed by Frank Capra
Starring James Stewart, Donna Reed and Lionel Barrymore

George Bailey spends his entire life giving up his big dreams for the good of his town, Bedford Falls, as we see in flashback. But in the present, on Christmas Eve, he is broken and suicidal over the misplacing of an $8000 loan and the machinations of the evil millionaire, Mr. Potter. His guardian angel, Clarence, falls to Earth, literally, and shows him how his town, family, and friends would turn out if he had never been born. George meant so much to so many people; should he really throw it all away?

White Christmas 26 Dec, 7:30 pm
1954 | USA | 120 Mins | Color | Musical, Comedy | English | PG

Directed by Michael Curtiz
Starring Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye

Two talented song-and-dance men, Bob Wallace and Phil Davis, team up after the war to become one of the hottest acts in show business. Davis plays matchmaker and introduces Wallace to a pair of beautiful sisters (Betty and Judy) who also have a song-and-dance act. When Betty and Judy travel to a Vermont lodge to perform a Christmas show, Wallace and Davis follow, only to find their former commander, General Waverly, is the lodge owner. A series of romantic mix-ups ensue as the performers try to help the General.

The film includes a veritable treasury of Irving Berlin classics: "Sisters," "Blue Skies," and of course "White Christmas." Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye are a joy to watch. Academy Award Nominations: Best Song ("Count Your Blessings Instead of Sheep".)

Admission is free for the public.
